Starting 2019 off the right way

Here at Ash we have been thinking about how to make our 15th year our best one yet.

It’s key to start the year off as we mean to go on and with that in mind, we kicked 2019 off with a staff engagement day. Here we shared our 2019 goals and objectives for Ash with the team: focusing on how we can collectively work together to achieve the best results, not only for Ash but also for all those whom we work with.

This year we aim to focus on facilitating internal knowledge share between all staff within the business. Many team members have skills and unparalleled knowledge on specialist areas of construction. We don’t want these to be kept within one site; instead, we are encouraging those with valuable skills to put themselves forward when they can provide innovative solutions. 

Given the growth of Ash over the past few years we also wanted to provide an insight to all staff about functions within the business they may not often interact with. For example, a member of the accounts team was particularly interested to hear about how site managers overcame challenges on a tricky restoration project. Transparency about business functions allows for greater team cohesion as members can see how, regardless of their role, everyone’s efforts directly contribute to the success of Ash and we are all working towards a collective goal. 

A key element to the culture here at Ash is investing in the next generation of the construction industry; emphasis was placed on the importance of this at the engagement day. We are very proud to be employers of multiple generations from families, for fathers who have been with us for over a decade to now be working alongside their sons. Additionally, we currently offer internships, work experience, apprentices and mentoring opportunities across various functions within the company. Young talent provides a fresh perspective and will aid Ash in advancing towards innovative solutions.  

We look forward to 2019 and the successes it will hopefully bring, for Ash as a company, our staff and all those we work with.
